Seymour Daily Tribune January 5, 2002 Gina Ann Shepard Ballard Gina Ann Shepard Ballard, 36, Brownstown, died at 10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002, at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown. She had been ill for four years. She was a member of First Christian Church in Cumming, Ga. She was a pharmacist working as a field research manager for Merck and Co. from 1994 through 1997 in Atlanta, Ga. She previously had worked as a clinical research administrator for Eli Lilly from 1992 through 1994 in Indianapolis. She was a 1984 graduate of Brownstown Central High School and graduated with honors from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She had served as president of Lambda Kappa Sigma Fraternity and Phi Lambda Sigma Leadership Honorary. She was a member of the Dean’s Student Advisory Council and was presented with the Upjohn Award for outstanding service and leadership to the pharmacy school by the Upjohn Pharmaceutical Co. Born Nov. 17, 1965, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Dale Shepard and Pat Hauer Shepard. Both survive in Brownstown. On Dec. 4, 1993, in Lexington, Ky., she married Brent Ballard, who died Nov. 17, 2001. Survivors include a son, Trevor Brent Ballard, Brownstown; a brother, Alan Dale (Maria) Shepard, Georgetown; three nephews, Jacob, Daniel and David Shepard, all of Georgetown; and a niece, Elizabeth Ann Shepard, Georgetown. Michael Hogg and Chris Criminger will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at Vallonia Christian Church. Burial will be in Vallonia Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Gina Shepard Ballard Scholarship Fund or Hoosier Christian Village Auxiliary.
