Seymour Tribune - August 31, 2009 Helen V. Bannister Helen V. Bannister, 89, of rural Crothersville passed away at 2:55 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. Mrs. Bannister was retired from Seymour Electronics and was a member of Crothersville Baptist Church. Born Nov. 18, 1919, in Jennings County, she was the daughter of Samuel John Tildon Engel and Nettie May (Smith) Engel. On May 2, 1937 she married Gerald E. Bannister who preceded her in death on March 27, 2007. Survivors include three sons and their wives, Bert (Barbara) Bannister, Crothersville, Clifford (April) Bannister, Austin, Kermit Eugene Bannister, Seymour; three daughters and their husbands, Ruby (Daryl) Johnson, Seymour, Gail Solsberry, Crothersville, Sondra Hart, Crothersville; 13 grandchildren, Michael Hart, Crothersville, Gerald Paul Honey, Crothersville, Betty Ann Cowart, Scottsburg, Tammy Swindell, Seymour, Greg Bannister, Crothersville, Dennis Ray Bannister, Austin, Robert Dale Bannister, Austin, Virginia Lee Bannister, Austin, Tawna Allen, Seymour, Bruce Rice, Seymour, Tim Rice, Seymour, Joyce Ann Russell, Seymour, Trisha Edmondson, Seymour; 12 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren; and a brother, Charles Ray (Lucy) Engle, Paris Crossing. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, James David Honey, Tony Lee Rice; a daughter, Betty Jean Bannister,;13 siblings, Silas C., Earnest, Mabel Leota, Gerald, Samuel Winton, Virgil Dalice, Ellen Louise, Clarence Roland, Lawrence, Merald, Harold, Gladys Irene, Frank Martin. The Reverend Robert Perry will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at Adams Funeral Home, Crothersville. Burial will take place at Cana Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
