Seymour Daily Tribune William P. Barlow October 17, 2006 Jan. 12, 1923 - Oct. 5, 2006 William P. Barlow, 83, North Vernon, died at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, 2006, at his residence. Mr. Barlow had been a car salesman for several years, working for Bill Dunfee Chevrolet and Bob Thomas Chevrolet. After retiring, he began wholesaling cars on his own. He was a member of Seymour Elks Club, Sigma Nu Fraternity, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2021 and St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mr. Barlow was a graduate of the University of Kentucky and was a veteran of World War II. He was a fan of Kentucky Wildcat basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed golf, automobiles (especially his 1968 Camaro) and spending time with family and friends. Born Jan. 12, 1923, in North Vernon, he was the son of Catherine L. Morarity and Robert L. Barlow, both of whom preceded him in death. On April 10, 1948, he married Mary Ann Stewart, who survives. Other survivors include three sons, Robert L. Barlow II (Michele), Madison, and Michael (Mary) Barlow, and John (Susan) Barlow, both of North Vernon; two daughters, Mary Jo (Brad) Bender, North Vernon, and Kate (Phil) Nicolai, Lawrenceburg; and 15 grandchildren, Colene Durocher, Trey, Robert L. III, Ben, Caitlin, Nick, Alex, Joe, Daniel and Andrew Barlow, Jared, Travis and Meghan Bender and Nancy and Paul Nicolai. He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Barlow, and a daughter, Nancy Barlow. The Rev. Stephen Donahue will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Vance-Fisher-Sawyer Funeral Chapel, North Vernon. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Project Share or Hospice of Jennings County.
