Joel Barrett

Joel Barrett, 84, Austin, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at Scott County Healthcare, Scottsburg.
Mr. Barrett was retired from Morgan Foods in Austin and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Victory Tabernacle, Underwood.
Born July 17, 1917, at Crawfordsville, Ky., he was a son of Price Barrett and Fannie Turner Barrett. He married Mattie Riley Barrett, who died Feb. 13, 1996.
Survivors include a son, Joel E. Barrett, Austin; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Oscar Barrett, Austin; and a sister, Letha McIntosh, Jackson, Ky.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Barrett.
The Rev. Kelly Reed and the Rev. Granville Barger will conduct services at 1 p.m. Friday at Buchanan Funeral Home, Austin. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Austin. Military graveside services will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars 1083, Crothersville. 
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
