Seymour Daily Tribune March 22, 2002 Cletes Lorraine Baxter Cletes Lorraine Baxter, 70, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at Merced, Calif. Mrs. Baxter was employed with the Kmart Corp. for 20 years, retiring as a computer programmer from its headquarters in Troy, Mich. She traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Japan and enjoyed relating stories of her travels. She also enjoyed reading and crocheting, donating many items she made to charitable organizations. Born Nov. 12, 1931, in Indianapolis, she was a daughter of Ted and Marie Stafford. In 1949 she married Gary C. Baxter. Survivors include five children, Gary and his wife, Rachel, Colorado, Ted and his wife, Teresa, Florida, Paul and his wife, Lisa, Merced, Calif., Cheryl Stabenow, Arizona, and Lorraine, Utah; seven grandchildren, Michael, Larry, Charles, Joshua, Jacob, Matthew and Jennifer; and two sisters, Doris Woods and Janet Warmelink, both of Indiana. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Ault, and a brother, Robert “Bobby” Stafford. Services were to be conducted at 1 p.m. today at New Life Church, Merced, Calif. Burial was to be in Merced Cemetery District. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. Whitton Family Funeral Service, Merced, Calif., was in charge of arrangements.
