Seymour Daily Tribune February 5, 2007 Victor Benge Victor Benge, 83, Brownstown, died at 2:17 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, at Heritage House, Seymour. Mr. Benge was an Army veteran, he served as a military policeman in New Mexico and at Camp Atterbury. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps in the Brownstown area. He farmed in Danville and retired from Allison Division of General Motors after working as an aircraft technician for 39 years. He then returned to Jackson County, where he and his wife enjoyed their retirement years. He was a member of Indianapolis Masonic Lodge No. 699 F. & A.M. for 50 years. Born April 28, 1923, in London, Ky., he was a son of Theo and Eliza Nolan Benge, both of whom preceded him in death. On Aug. 21, 1951, in South Bend, he married Ethel Kovaca Benge, who survives in Brownstown. Other survivors include two children, Master Sgt. Donald W. (Jody) Benge, Colorado Springs, Col., and Beth Mannings, Indianapolis; one brother, Lt. Col. David W. Benge, Memphis, Tenn.; one grandson, Christopher David Benge, Phoenix, Ariz.; three step-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-granddaughter; six nieces and three nephews. A memorial service for the family will be held at a later date. Johnson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
