Seymour Daily Tribune May 2, 2002 Dorothy C. Benham Dorothy C. Benham, 93, of Columbus and formerly of Brownstown, died at 9:17 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at Willow Crossing Health and Rehab, Columbus. She had been ill for 3½ years. Mrs. Benham was a chef. She was a member of Vallonia United Methodist Church, the Elks Club and Eagles Club of Palm Springs, Calif. She lived in California from 1950 to 1987. Born Sept. 5, 1908, in Vallonia, she was a daughter of Virgil Crockett and Anna Belle McElfresh, and they preceded her in death. On Dec. 8, 1951, in Jeffersonville, she married Lynn Hanley Benham and he died Aug. 14, 1995. She is survived by a son, Richard D. Robison, Brownstown; a daughter, Donna Allman, Columbus; a brother, Francis Marion “Pick” Crockett, Tennessee; two sisters, Hassey Kifel, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Alta “Crick” Jackson, Scottsburg; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery, Columbus. Memorials may be given to Bartholomew County Hospice. Johnson Funeral Home in Vallonia is in charge of arrangements.
