Seymour Daily Tribune Eldor F. Bobb August 18, 2006 Eldor F. Bobb, 90, died at 11:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, in the Lutheran Community Home, Seymour. Mr. Bobb was born Feb. 13, 1916, in Dudleytown, the son of William A. and Anna Marie (Wehrkamp) Bobb. He married Irma B. Kasting on Oct. 22, 1939 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, and she preceded him in death on April 28, 1988. On Nov. 14, 1989, he married Verna (Flinn) Baker, who preceded him in death on Dec. 7, 2004. Mr. Bobb worked for Union Hardware Co. of Seymour for a total of 66 years. For 41 years, he was the sales, service and parts manager. In 1982, he became semi-retired but continued to work as a sales clerk, before completely retiring in December 2003. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour and served on various committees, including Christian Board of Education (1948-1950), Chairman of the Finance Board for three years, and the Building Committee and Finance Board for the new church (1959-1961). He was a member of Lutheran Laymen's League of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod since 1948 and served in several offices. He was Lutheran Layman's League Membership Supervisor and Development Chairman of the state of Indiana for eight years, and a sponsor of the Lutheran Hour Ministries until the time of his death. Mr. Bobb served on the Seymour City Council from 1960-1971, and 1976-1979. He served on the Jackson County Council from 1981-1993. In 1995 he was appointed to complete a term on the Advisory Board of Jackson Township, and then elected to that same Board in 1998 and 2002. In November 2003 he received the State of Indiana "Council of the Sagamores of the Wabash" award. He is survived by a son, Edward (Margaret) Bobb of Andover, Minn.; a daughter: Mary Anna (Dr. George J.) Gude of Dorsey, Ill.; four grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; five step-children: Karen (Jan) Baker-Fogle of Jacksonville, Fla., Martha (Gary) Harrison of North Vernon, Sandra (Jerry) Baker-Waskom of Seymour, Donald (Alice) Baker of Nashville, and Jack (Phyllis) Baker of Columbus; three sisters: Leona (Leonard) Trimpe, Hulda Goecker and Luella (Virgil) Holle, all of Seymour. He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, two brothers, Henry and Lawrence Bobb; a sister: Hilda Vehslage; two brothers-in-law, Earl Goecker and Henry Vehslage; and a sister-in-law, Opal Bobb. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, with the Revs. Ralph Blomenberg, Philip Bloch, Jimmy Rodriguez officiating. Visitation will be from from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Seymour, following the service. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Hour, Immanuel Lutheran Church, Immanuel Lutheran School, Trinity Lutheran High School, Lutheran Community Home or the donor's choice.
