Seymour Daily Tribune Vera Sophia Bode November 7, 2006 Sept. 24, 1915 - Nov. 4, 2006 Vera Sophia Bode, 91, Seymour, died at 7:58 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at Lutheran Community Home. Mrs. Bode was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and a devoted farm wife. She loved to cook, play cards, crochet and do needlework. Born Sept. 24, 1915, in Bartholomew County, she was a daughter of Friedrich and Lena Sophia Burbrink Peters, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Earl G. Bode on December 18, 1938, at St. John's Lutheran Church, White Creek. They were together for 44 years before he died on June 28, 1983. Survivors include a son, Nick (Jeanne) Bode, Seymour; a daughter-in-law, Vickie Bode, Columbus; three grandchildren, Kelli (Brian) Mathis, Seymour, Kimberly (David) Harrison, North Vernon, and Kent (Shane) Bode, Atlanta; five great-grandchildren, Jody and Cody McCammon, North Vernon, and Ashley, Chaz and Ragan Mathis, Seymour; a sister; Leona (Louis) Stahl, Frost Proof, Fla.; and two sisters-in-law, Edna Peters and Mildred Bobb, Seymour. She was preceded in death by two children, Louis Earl Bode and Butch Bode; a grandson; Brian Bode; three brothers, Eldor, Richard and Ralph Peters; and a sister; Selma Claycamp. The Rev. Ralph Blomenberg, the Rev. Philip Bloch and the Rev. Jimmy Rodriguez will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran High School, CrossLife Ministries, Immanuel Memorial Fund or the donor's choice.
