Seymour Daily Tribune Ruth Thompson Grantham Fahay Boggs October 28, 2006 Sept. 4, 1914 - Oct. 26, 2006 Ruth Thompson Grantham Fahay Boggs, 92, Seymour, died at 8:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006, at Covered Bridge Health Campus, Seymour. Mrs. Boggs was a member of Central Christian Church, Seymour. She was past president of Loyal Devoir Society and Christian Women's Fellowship and was elected elder emeritus at Central Christian Church. She had served as chairman of volunteers for Meals on Wheels at Central Christian Church and was past president of County Christian Women's Fellowship. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star Seymour Chapter 134 and past president of the Eastern Star Club. She was a life member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority (Beta Kappa Chapter 697) and Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary 1925. She had previously served in the Seymour Business and Professional Women's Club, Ladies Auxiliary of Hoosier Christian Village, cancer volunteer in "Reach of Recovery," on the state board of directors (two years) and on the local board (14 years). Mrs. Boggs was past vice precinct committee woman in Redding Township, Republican Women's Club, and past president of the Martha Home Extension Club, past president of The Chest Ridge Cemetery Association and a member of Young at Hearts Club. Born Sept. 4, 1914, in Seymour, she was a daughter of Charles Oscar Thompson and Jennie Cox Thompson, both of whom preceded her in death. On April 26, 1934, she married Claborn D. Grantham, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 15, 1938, she married John L. "Pete" Fahay, who also preceded her in death. On July 8, 1966, she married Archie R. Boggs, who survives. Other survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Donald D. and Nancy Grantham, Westford, Mass.; four grandsons and their wives, Tim and Jane Grantham, Townsend, Mass., Scott and Lynne Grantham, Fallbrook, Calif., Todd and Tracy Grantham, Charleston, S.C., and Jeff and Karen Grantham, Merrimack, N.H.; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rachel Findley and Evelyn Wieneke, both of Seymour; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ralph Thompson, Earl Thompson, Homer Thompson, and Louis Richard Thompson; a sister, Ruby Guinn; and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace Grantham. The Rev. Sam Davenport will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Voss & Sons Funeral Service, Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. An Eastern Star service (open to the public) will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be given to The Chestnut Ridge Cemetery Perpetual Fund or to Central Christian Church, Seymour.
