Seymour Daily Tribune May 7, 2002 Elmer C. Bowling Elmer C. Bowling, 84, Scottsburg, died Monday, May 6, 2002, at his residence. Mr. Bowling retired in 1976 as a machinist from Cummins Engine Co. in Columbus and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church and had resided in Scottsburg for 70 years. Born Nov. 4, 1917, in Corbin, Ky., he was a son of Theo Bowling and Nannie Cummins, who both preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Mae Bowling, Scottsburg; a son, Dr. Larry C. (Delinda) Bowling, Bloomington; two daughters, Loretta M. (Steve) Richards, Sellersburg, and Kathy J. (Neil) Allen, Scottsburg; three brothers, the Rev. Robert Bowling, Scottsburg, William Bowling, Seymour, and Donald Bowling, Gainesville, Ga.; three sisters, Janie Dixon and Ada Combs, both of Scottsburg, and Glenna Broady, Xenia, Ohio; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He also was preceded by a sister, Zora Waymire. The Rev. Irmal Elliott will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Thursday at Collins Funeral Home, Scottsburg. Burial will be at Scottsburg Cemetery, Scottsburg. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, care of the funeral home.
