Brownstown Banner Robert B. Bowling Robert B. Bowling, 84, of Crothersville, died at 4:20 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Brownstown. He was of Baptist faith, a US Army veteran of World War II, and a retired mechanic, having worked for Hamilton Motors in Brownstown, Brown Chevrolet, and at Bowling Garage at Tampico. He was a member of VFW Men's Auxiliary 6582, Scott County Moose Lodge, and American Legion Post 89 and Fraternal Order of Eagles, both of Seymour. He was born Jan. 7, 1922, at Manchester, Ky., a son of the late Chester Bowling and Mattie Allen. He married Leona B. Jones Jan. 2, 1948, at Detroit, Mich., and she died Sept. 19, 2004. Survivors include four children, Bobby (Trina) Bowling of Brownstown, Stevie (Beth) Bowling of Seymour, and Mattie Lynda Bowling and Patty Bowling, both of Jeffersonville; three brothers, Jason (Marcella) Bowling of Detroit, Clyde (Evelyn) Bowling of Seymour, and Roy (Flossie) Bowling of Columbus; three sisters, Reba Rice of Owensboro, Ky., Doris (Jack) Ray of Indianapolis, and Mary Hurst of Greenwood; and tree grandchildren, Ryan and Nathan Bowling and Cory Mullins. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jarve Bowling and T. G. Bowling. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Brownstown, with Rudolph Hamblin officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery with full military rites conducted by VFW 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47, and Vietnam Veterans 7, all of Seymour. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and from noon until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
