Seymour Daily Tribune February 26, 2002 Ernest F. Brewer Jr. Ernest F. Brewer Jr., 72, Seymour, died at 1:52 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital, Beech Grove, after a brief illness. Mr. Brewer was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church for 55 years and served as an usher at the church for several years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Seymour. He moved to Jennings County in 1936, graduated from Hayden High School in 1947 and moved to Seymour in July 1948. He served in the U.S. Air Force, where he was an X-ray technician, from Jan. 5, 1951, to Oct. 26, 1953. He worked at the Kroger store in Seymour from 1947 to 1979 and retired from Kroger’s in Louisville on Feb. 29, 1992, after 44 years and three months. Born May 22, 1929, in Indianapolis, he was a son of Ernest Brewer and Esther Speckner Brewer. On Aug. 29, 1955, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour, he married Frances Williams, who survives in Seymour. Other survivors include three sons, David Brewer and Jeff (Peggy) Brewer, both of Greenfield, and Greg Brewer, Seymour; a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Patricia) Bode, Greenfield; four grandchildren, Andy Brewer, Jessie Brewer, Nathan Bode and Mandy Bode, all of Greenfield; two brothers, Omer Brewer, Shelbyville, and Ron Brewer, North Carolina; a sister, Martha Bell, Columbus; and four grandchildren. The Rev. John Hall will conduct services at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Franklin. Full military graveside rites will be conducted. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Voss and Sons Funeral Home, Voss Chapel, Seymour, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church. A prayer service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Heart or American Diabetes associations.
