Seymour Daily Tribune Lawrence Hubert Bridges April 4, 1922 – June 16, 2006 Lawrence Hubert Bridges, 84, Seymour, died Friday, June 16, 2006, at his residence. Mr. Bridges was a member of First Marion Baptist Church, Commiskey, for 74 years and served in the United States Army. He worked as a manager at Standard Oil Bulk Plant in Crothersville and at the Charlestown Ammunition Plant as a boiler operator. He retired from Rohm and Hass as a utility operator in 1986 after working there for 25 years. Mr. Bridges graduated from Marion High School in 1939. He was a member of Washington Lodge 13 Free and Accepted Masons for 58 years and was a retired deacon from First Marion Baptist Church. Born April 4, 1922, in Jennings County, he was a son of Roy and Vionesia Carlock Bridges, both of whom preceded him in death. On Oct. 15, 1942, in Seymour, he married Mary E. Fox, who survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Judith A. Bridges Reynolds, Keysville, Va.; two sons, Larry Ray (Valeeta) Bridges, Bloomington, and Eric Bridges, North Vernon; two grandchildren, Levi Scott (Angela) Bridges, Gosport, and Jeff L. (Angelea) Reynolds, Keysville; a stepgranddaughter, Crystal Horn, Bloomington; a great-grandchild, Logan A. Bridges, Gosport; a stepgreat-grandson, Tyrus D. Horn, Bloomington; and a sister, Mary Margaret (James) Young, Seymour. He was preceded in death by a sister, Linnie Berneice Sweany, and three brothers, Ralph, Everett and Emory Bridges. The Rev. Mike Crantrall will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Monday at First Marion Baptist Church. Burial will be at Marion Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Voss Chapel, Seymour, and from noon until time of service Monday at the church. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be given to First Marion Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
