Seymour Daily Tribune March 9, 2002 The Rev. Cecil Marvin Brown The Rev. Cecil Marvin Brown, Milton, Ky., died at 1:30 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2002, at Bedford Healthcare Center, Bedford, Ky. The Rev. Brown was a retired Wesleyan Church minister, having first served as pastor of Long Run Pilgrim Holiness Church in Switzerland County. He also served churches in Versailles, Seymour, Greensburg and Clarksburg and retired after serving Austin Wesleyan Church. He received pastoral degrees from Frankfort Pilgrim College. Born May 7, 1917, in Trimble County, Ky., he was a son of Dow Vincent Brown and Lilah Buchanan. On Jan. 15, 1938, he married Ruth Jackson, who survives in Milton, Ky. Other survivors include three daughters, Geneva P. Hairston and husband, Paul, Fisherville, Ky., LaDonna M. Colter and husband, Gene, Fishers, and Linda L. Hudson and husband, Steve, Wabash; a son, the Rev. C. Lamar Brown and wife, Becky, Lawrenceville, Ill.; three sisters, Ruth Tingle and Louise Gammon, both of Canton, Ohio, and Bonnie Welty, Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Orena Tandy and Doris Jean Brown, and two brothers, Russell Brown and Dow Vernon Brown. The Rev. Wayne Mahoney will conduct services at 1 p.m. Monday at Milton Wesleyan Church, Milton, Ky. Burial will be in Moffett Cemetery, Milton, Ky. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Vail-Holt Funeral Home, Madison Chapel, and after 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorials may be given to Milton Wesleyan Church or the Gideon Living Memorial Bibles.
