Seymour Daily Tribune Rodney J. Butler October 30, 2006 June 28, 1954 - Oct. 27, 2006 Rodney J. Butler, 52, North Vernon, died at 8:40 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at his residence. Mr. Butler was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, where he had volunteered countless hours and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He had owned Butler Floor Covering for 27 years. He was an avid Colts fan and enjoyed spending time with his children and supporting their sports activities. He also enjoyed bluegrass music, visiting the Park Theater and playing cards with his friends and family. For those who knew him, he will always be remembered for his generosity and dedication to his family whom he loved dearly. He attended Delta High School in Muncie and graduated from Jennings County High School in 1972. He was noted as a standout wrestler and football player. He attended college at Western Kentucky University. Born June 28, 1954, in Winchester, he was son of Jack F. Butler and Sammie Cummins Amick. His father preceded him in death, and his mother survives. On Sept. 9, 1986, he married Lisa Leach, who also survives. Other survivors include two sons, Zachary Butler, Florida, and Tyler Butler, North Vernon; a daughter, Kayla Butler, North Vernon; three brothers, Richard Butler (his twin), North Vernon, Tom (Candy) Butler, Muncie, and Dan (Sherry), Noblesville; two sisters, Sue (Dave) Miller and Marcia (Fred) Ludington, both of Parker City; 12 nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and -nephews. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Fred Amick. The Rev. Stephen Donahue was to conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Memorials may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Butler Children Education Fund. Arrangements were handled by Vance-Fisher-Sawyer Funeral Chapel.
