Seymour Daily Tribune February 12, 2007 Manuel E. Cheek Sept. 4, 1934 - Feb. 12, 2007 Manuel E. Cheek, 72, Commiskey, died at 7:43 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown. Mr. Cheek was a member of Houston Christian Church and had served 18 years with the U.S. Army, National Guard and Reserves. He had been a school bus driver for handicapped children at Seymour schools. He also worked in the maintenance department for the school system and previously had worked for Meadows Metal and Arvin. He enjoyed deer hunting and horses. Born Sept. 4, 1934, in Brown County, he was a son of Henry and Minnie (Taylor) Cheek. He married Roberta Waggoner, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Jeff Cheek (Diane Grimes), Columbus, and Lewis (Stephanie) Cheek, Seymour; a sister, Dora Mae (Jack) Goforth, Brownstown; a brother, Billy Cheek, Seymour; grandchildren, Cindy Hall, Kendall Bannister, Kristin Cheek, Michelle Goins and Jacqueline Stark; and great-grandchildren, Braeden Bannister, Tristen Bannister, Jaylei Carr and Luke Wilson. He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Cornett. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial will take place at Houston Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today and from noon until time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Hoosier Christian Village Auxiliary, Brownstown.
