Seymour Tribune - May 14, 2009 Charles L. Combs 1926 - 2009 Charles L. Combs, 83, Crothersville, died Thursday, May 14, 2009, at his residence. Born March 21, 1926, in Little York, he was the son of the late Issaac Combs and Blanche Lester Combs. He was married to Ines Marie Combs, who passed away Nov. 11, 1999. He was a retired construction worker for Repp and Mundt Co., Columbus, and also a farmer. He was a member of Russell Chapel Church, Crothersville. He served in World War II as a private first class in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Club 60 in Brownstown, 60-plus-year member of Mount Wilson American Legion Post 473 in Little York, Jackson County Conservation Club and Norman Station Conservation Club. Survivors include his son, John S. (Peggy) Combs, Vallonia; a sister, Mattie Richardson, Austin; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Ralph, Thomas, Joseph, Paul and Issaac Combs Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Collins Funeral Home, Scottsburg, with burial in Russell Chapel Cemetery near Tampico. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
