Seymour Daily Tribune Olive C. Cox October 16, 2006 Oct. 31, 1912 - Oct. 14, 2006 Olive Cox, 93, of Greensboro, N.C., and formerly of Seymour, died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at her residence. Mrs. Cox was a devoted wife, mother, relative and friend. She was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Seymour, where she served in the ministry of the church as organist and pianist for more than 30 years. She also played piano in the Aaron Cox orchestra until it disbanded in 1955. She continued to play the organ and piano at her residence center in North Carolina until her recent illness. She also composed a number of songs for voice and piano. Born Oct. 31, 1912, at Seymour, she was the daughter of Louis Henry and Clara Louise Nieman Becker. On Aug. 2, 1936, at Lake Orien, Mich., she married Aaron E. Cox, who died Dec. 7, 1983. She is survived by a son, the Rev. Frederick (Sandra) E. Cox, Richmond; a daughter, Maureen E. (Steven) Burns, Greensboro, N.C.; five grandchildren, John Burns, Caroline (Marc) Drake, Philip (Lisa) Cox, Matthew (Nikki) Cox and Mark (Kenyatta) Cox; six great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Meyerl Robertson; a sister-in-law, Adeline Spivey, Fairfax, Va.; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded by a son, Willard Dale Cox; four brothers; and five sisters. The Rev. Frederick E. Cox will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place in Riverview Cemetery, Seymour. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, N.C. 27405; Trinity United Methodist Church in Seymour; or the Indiana Music Fund.
