Seymour Daily Tribune Charles W. Crawford April 8, 1922 – June 6, 2006 Charles William Crawford, 84, Brownstown, died at 6:53 a.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. Mr. Crawford was a member of the Medora Christian Church. He had retired from Cummins Engine Company in 1983. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and music. He was able to play any string instrument. Born April 8, 1922, in English, he was a son of John and Leafie (Brown) Crawford, both of whom preceded him in death. In July 1984, he married Evelyn (Weddell) Crockett, who survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Don) Frye, Bloomington, and Hannah (Randy) Sawyer, Paoli; two sons, David Crawford, New Albany, and Chuck (Angie) Crawford, Medora; one step-son, Darrell Crockett, Brownstown; one step-daughter, Lana (Steve) Miller, Houston; three brothers, Raymond (Mona) Crawford, Connersville, Justus (Helen) Crawford, Georgetown, and Don (Cora) Crawford, Laurel; 12 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother. Stan Thomas will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial will take place at White River Valley Cemetery, Medora. Military graveside rites will be conducted. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or donor’s choice.
