Seymour Tribune - October 11, 2009 Charles R. Deaton "Bud" Charles R. "Bud" Deaton, 69, Seymour, passed away at 10:46 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at his residence. Mr. Deaton was a member of American Legion 89 of Seymour. He was an avid bowler and loved to fish and Saturday morning doughnuts and milk with his grandchildren. He was a 1959 graduate of Shields High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. Born Sept. 24, 1940, in Lerosa, Ky., he was the son of William Burlie and Nanie Belle Bairrett Deaton, both of whom preceded him in death. On June 20, 1965, he married Arnetta Sue Bowman at Seymour Christ Temple. Mr. Deaton is survived by his wife of 44 years, Arnetta Sue Deaton; five sons, Richard Wayne Deaton, William Leroy Deaton, Gary Lynn (April) Deaton, James Edward Deaton and Brian Jay (Kathleen) Deaton, all of Seymour; six grandchildren, Kelsey, Zachary, Ethan, Conner and Bridgett Deaton and Haley Anderson; and one great-grandson, Jullian Deaton. He was preceded in death by an infant sister; two sisters, Romanya Hardy and Frances Smith; and one grandson, Jerome Deaton. Brother Kenny Roberson will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion 89, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Veterans 7, all of Seymour. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 1 p.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
