Seymour Daily Tribune February 18, 2002 William E. Deckard William E. Deckard, 66, Idaville, died at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at his home. Mr. Deckard worked in construction in this area as a labor foreman and later worked for Wilson’s in Logansport for 22 years. He was a former member of the Eagles and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958, serving in Germany. “Big Bill” enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and gardening. Born Aug. 19, 1935, in Norman, he was a son of James T. Deckard and Helen A. Elkins Deckard. His mother survives in Seymour. On March 17, 1981, in Monticello, he married Sue Ann Stover, who died Feb. 20, 1993. Survivors include two daughters, Debra K. Butler, Tucson, Ariz., and Patricia A. Wheeler, Livermore, Calif.; three sons, Ronald W. Deckard, William E. Deckard Jr. and James G. Deckard, all of Bedford; five stepchildren, Sandra Walters, Lauri D. Weaver and Neal E. Stover, all of Idaville, Leslie Berkshire, Lafayette, and Marty J. Stover, Burnettsville; 22 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The Rev. John Wright will conduct services at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Vorhis-Draper Funeral Home, Monticello. Burial will be in Seceeder Cemetery, Burnettsville. Full military graveside rites will be conducted. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Burnettsville Christian Church.
