Annamae Capes Dewey

Annamae Capes Dewey, 87, Belvidere, Ill., died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, in Swedish-American Hospital following a sudden illness.
She had lived in Belvidere for 16 years. She was previously a resident of Shabbona, Ill., Miami, Fla., Indianapolis, Maple Park, Ill., North Vernon and Cincinnati, Ohio, where she grew up and was educated. She was a stamper for GTE in Genoa for 17 years retiring in 1980. She was a member of East Park Baptist Church, a former member of Shabbona Baptist Church, where she held the position of recording secretary, a former Pink Lady for Highland Hospital and a former member of I.A.M. Local 1269 Machinist Union. In her spare time, she enjoyed refinishing furniture, playing cards and dominos, putting puzzles together and watching Gaither videos. She attended Oyler School in Cincinnati.
Born Feb. 11, 1919, in Cincinnati, she was a daughter of Charles Tilton and Bertha A. (Campbell) Jenkins, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Claude E. Capes in Butlerville, Ill., on Dec. 26, 1936. H preceded her in death in 1964. She then married Harold R. "Pat" Dewey on Feb. 23, 1968; he preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1993.
Survivors include one son, Tilton L. (Tess) Capes, San Antonio, Texas; one daughter, Sharon (Robert) Stanton, Belvidere, Ill.,; three stepchildren, Floyd V. Dixie) Dewey, Judy K. Clausen, Carol S. Malone; one stepdaughter, Janet Clausen; 15 grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, Kadelyn Hoxsey and Faith Hennessee; 36 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Betty (Robbie) Smith, Jasper, Ga.; one brother, Clifford (Pauline) Jenkins, Louisville, Ky.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Timothy and Jaclyn Schultz, and one great-granddaughter, Shawna Burno; and one sister, Velma Schneider.
The Rev. Loren Rice will conduct funeral services at 6 p.m. today at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave. in Belvidere.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The Rev. Ed Mead will conduct funeral services at noon Wednesday at Voss Chapel in Seymour. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at Hayden Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the East Park Baptist Church or to the Shriner's Hospitals for children.
