Eunice Mary Hamson Disque
Leaving a legacy full of family, faith and friends, Eunice Disque died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Disque was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Lynn, Mass., and a 1942 graduate of Carney Medical Hospital School of Nursing in Boston. Following graduation, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a nurse. She met and later married John Frederick Disque on March 17, 1945, in St. Augustine, Fla. She was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy as a lieutenant junior grade.
She was a daughter of Perley F. and Katherine L. Garrity Hamson, Lynn, Mass. Surviving is a brother, John Henry Hamson, Danvers, Mass.
Eunice and John have 11 children, 45 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Disque is survived by her husband, John, of 61 years, and by her children, Tom (Jan), Seymour, John, Brownstown, Terri (Larry) French, North Vernon, Steve, Norman, Jan (Joe) Lustig, Carmel, Joe (Marj Itzkowitz), Brownstown, Kathy (Joe) Marcisz, Marion, Jerry (Bonnie), Auburn, Donna (Steve) Schuck, Hartford City, Jim, Brownstown, and Bill, Seymour.
She was a member of Our Lady of Providence Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was employed at Schneck Memorial Hospital and Hoosier Christian Village in Brownstown.
She always had the ability to laugh and her laughter was contagious. Her great gifts of love, hospitality, compassion and patience were shared with all those who knew her. Her great love of reading and learning inspired her children and grandchildren. She had two important values that directed her life: her love of children and commitment to family.
Father Todd Goodson and Father Joe Moriarty will conduct a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Providence Catholic Church, Brownstown. Burial with military graveside services will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.
Memorials may be given to Our Lady of Providence.
