Seymour Daily Tribune December 18, 2006 Clarence Lee Dowling Sr. Clarence Lee Dowling Sr., 75, Commiskey, died at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at his residence. Mr. Dowling was a 1950 graduate of Paris Crossing High School and resided nearly all of his life in Jennings County. He was the co-owner of Dowling Greenhouse and Landscaping Co. for many years. He also was employed with Arvin Industries in Seymour for 20 years, retiring in 1972. He was a faithful member of the United Church of Christ in Greenwood. He enjoyed in his spare time fishing, hunting, his family, playing the fiddle, the banjo and listening to bluegrass music. He was awaiting the birth of his 11th great-grandchild. Born Feb. 19, 1931, in Jennings County, he was a son of Lee Clarence and Ruth Marie Johnson Dowling, both of whom preceded him in death. On Nov. 11, 1950, in Uniontown, he married Mary Jo Ferguson, who survives. Other survivors include one son, Clarence Lee (Sherry) Dowling Jr., Commiskey; three daughters, Deborah (Charles) Crane, Borden, Tami (Louis) Harvey, Becki D. (Terry Lee) Trisler both of Commiskey; 14 grandchildren, Dustin, Jason, Kimberly, Stephanie, Amanda, Brittney, Jeremy, Natasha, Bradley, Charles, Genelle, Chris, Teralyn and Tyler; 10 great-grandchildren, Keygan, Kollin, Bella, Daniel, Rachel, Elliott, Elisia, Kyra, Destiny and Ezekiel; one niece, three nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by one son, Larry Dean Dowling, who preceded in death on Sept. 1, 1953; and two sisters, Geraldine Harsh and Naomi Voss. Darris McNeely will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Thursday at Morgan and Nay Funeral Centre, Madison. Burial will take place at Marion Cemetery, Commiskey. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Clarence Lee Dowling Sr. memorial fund.
