Seymour Tribune - November 2008 Ralph L. Dunlap 1925 - 2008 Ralph L. Dunlap, 83, Kokomo, died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, at his home. Mr. Dunlap worked for Crescent Dairy for more than 30 years. He then worked for Chrysler, where he retired after 15 years. He served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1945 and fought in the Battle of the Bulge, where he received the Purple Heart. He was a member of Chapel Hill Christian Church. He belonged to UAW 685, American Legion Post 6 and Disabled American Veterans Local Chapter 28. He loved to fix up old cars and go to car shows. Born Feb. 11, 1925, in Kokomo, he was the son of Alpha R. and Nellie James Dunlap, both of whom preceded him in death. On Dec. 6, 1946, he married Irene M. Dunlap in Kokomo. She preceded him in death June 28, 1990. He then married Marry Lou Gillem Dunlap, who also preceded him in death. Survivors include a son, Mark (Debby) Dunlap, Kokomo; a daughter, Vicky (Jerry) Johnson, Seymour; five grandchildren, Ben, Jennifer, Matthew, Mandy and Kaicy; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Pastor Steve Allen will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ellers Mortuary, Kokomo. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial with full military rites performed by the Kokomo Veterans of Foreign Wars Military Rites Team and members of the U.S. Army will be conducted in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Kokomo.
