Seymour Daily Tribune Sally Jo Eckelman Dec. 9, 1932 – June 28, 2006 Sally Jo Eckelman, 73, of Seymour died Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at her residence. Mrs. Eckelman graduated from Columbus High School in 1950 and then attended Hanover College. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, where she sang in the church choir. She also was a member of Delta Zeta Tau Sorority. She retired from Cummins in Columbus, after 10 years of service and was currently employed as a secretary for Indiana Vocational Rehab in Seymour. Born December 9, 1932, in Southport, she was a daughter of Martin and Betty Jane (Smith) Fishback both of whom preceded her in death. On Aug. 17, 1954, she married Kaye Don Eckelman in Seymour, who preceded her in death March 5, 1977. Survivors include: a daughter, Lynn (Ron) Fleetwood, Seymour; a son; Joe Eckelman, of Seymour; a grandson, Greg (Melanie) Eckelman, Seymour, and two great-grandchildren; Kaylee and Ryan Eckelman, both of Seymour; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; Lee Ann Eckelman, two sisters, Sue Fishback and Sharon Lian, and a niece; Beth Anne Lian. The Rev. Ralph Blomenberg will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour with Cremation rites will be accorded with a private burial to follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday, at the church. Memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church choir fund or the donor’s choice.
