Seymour Daily Tribune - Monday, August 01, 2005 Ruth Harris Elkins Jan. 5, 1923 – July 29, 2005 Ruth Harris Elkins, 82, Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown, formerly of Medora, died at 9:18 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2005, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. Mrs. Elkins was of Pentecostal faith. She was homemaker and worked several years as a clothes press operator in New Albany. She was employed at Medora Plastic Factory and Medora School Corporation. Born Jan. 5, 1923, at Medora, she was a daughter of Robert Henry Hunsucker and Carrie Jane Hughes Hunsucker, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Franklin Harris, who preceded her in death Feb. 5, 1956. She married Edgar Elkins, who preceded her in death on May 22, 1988. Survivors include three sons, Robert (Daisy) Harris, Vallonia, Steven (Rosie) Harris, Salem, and Garry (Lisa) Elkins, Medora; five daughters, Carolyn Joy (Jerry) Eiler, Floyd Knobs, Patricia Kay (Jim) Smith, Portageville, Mo., Rita (Bob) Schulz, Jeffersonville, Lorretta (Rusty) Brock; Medora, and Wanda (James) Wright, Seymour; four step-children, Larry Wayne (JoAnn) Elkins, Jerry Elkins, Terry (Diane) Elkins and Joan (Bill) Hutchins; 35 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ray, Elmer, Henry, Neal Hunsucker; two sisters, Dora Hunsucker and Dorothy Kiser; 8 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The Rev. Louis Banks will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hague Funeral Home, Medora. Burial will take place at Leesville Cemetery in Lawrence County. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
