Seymour Daily Tribune April 29, 2002 Josephine C. Ellis Josephine C. (Diggs) Ellis, 83, Seymour, died at 3:16 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2002, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, after a brief illness. Mrs. Ellis was a seamstress for Jacobson & Excello Shirt Factory for 32 years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Born April 24, 1919, in Whitecreek, she was a daughter of John Diggs and Amelia Enzinger Diggs. On Feb. 4, 1940, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Whitecreek, she married Ralph J. Ellis, and he survives in Seymour. She also is survived by a daughter, Karen Ellis (Roy) Habenicht, Hayden; two sons, Wilford Lee (Margaret) Ellis, Jeffersonville, and Gilbert Dale Diggs, Reddington; a sister, Anita Johnson, Indianapolis; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She also was preceded by three sisters, Laura Bruno, Ruth Heckman and Irene Diggs; and three brothers, George Diggs, Avis Diggs and Walter Diggs. The Rev. Ralph Blomenberg will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Myers Funeral Service, Burkholder Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran High School, the Immanuel Lutheran Church Building Fund or the donor’s choice.
