Seymour Daily Tribune May 7, 2002 Alvyra Bernice Freeman Ely Alvyra Bernice Freeman Ely, 63, Madison, died Monday, May 6, 2002, at Norton Hospital, Louisville. Mrs. Ely was a homemaker and raised 10 children. She was a volunteer at the Salvation Army and attended church in Madison. Born July 27, 1938, in Louisville, she was a daughter of William K. Freeman and Rosie Belle Hyden Freeman, who both preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, James Ely, Bedford, and John Ely, Jeffersonville; six daughters, Sandra Ely, Milton, Ky., Regina Moore, Bedford, Ky., Gladys Meredith, Seymour, Lisa Ely, Pendleton, Ky., Tina Terry, Pendleton, Ky., and April Wright, Crestwood, Ky.; Hank Roback; five brothers, Charles, Stanley, Jimmy, Tony and Ricky Freeman, all of Hanover; three sisters, Anna Dukes, Darlene Reed and Mary Newman, all of Hanover; 30 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Ely; and two children, Donna Edwards and Calvin Beeler. The Rev. Forrest Hamilton will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. EDT (1 p.m. Indiana time) Thursday at Ransdell Funeral Home, Bedford, Ky. Burial will be at Bedford IOOF Cemetery, Bedford, Ky. Friends may call from 2 p.m. EDT (1 p.m. Indiana time) until closing today and from 9 a.m. EDT (8 a.m. Indiana time) until closing Wednesday at the funeral home.
