Seymour Daily Tribune Marie Cooper Endicott October 27, 2006 Marie Cooper Endicott, 89, Brandenton, Fla., formerly of Seymour, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006. Mrs. Endicott graduated from high school and married her high school beau, James N. Endicott. They came to Seymour in 1942, where her husband later opened the Endicott Men's Clothing and Sporting Goods Store on West Second Street. Working part-time in the store and raising three children, she still found time to pursue her love of painting in oils and watercolors and became an accomplished artist. She exhibited her works and was recognized in regional and national juried art exhibitions. She attended the Indiana-Purdue extension, received certification as an assistant librarian and served in this capacity at the Seymour Public Library for several years. When she lost her husband in an untimely accident, she bravely faced the challenge by stepping into his job and excelling as a wholesale representative for the southeast United States for a men's clothing outerwear company. She retired and moved near her children and two grandchildren in Bradenton, Fla. She was past president of the local Tri-Kappa Sorority and a member of Eastern Star. She was a gracious and loving person, and those surviving her will miss her positive, cheerful attitude and warm personality. Born July 6, 1917, in Princeton, she was a daughter of Edwin Mack Cooper and Augusta Marie Schweikert Cooper, both of whom preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Endicott Engel, Bradenton, Fla., and a son, James (Sonya) Endicott III, St. Pete Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren, Jill Baurle, Seymour, Jay Endicott, Lexington, Ky., Janna Reed, Greenwood, and Allen Engel and Britt LeBlanc-Simard, both of Bradenton. Fla.; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert William Endicott, and by a brother, Ed Cooper. A celebration service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge, 12985 E.
