Seymour Daily Tribune Irene L. Engle September 19, 2006 Irene L. Engle, 88, Seymour died Monday, Sept. 18, 2006, at Heritage House, Seymour. Mrs. Engle was a member of First Baptist Church in Seymour. She was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and retired from the Gerwin Shoe Co. She attended business college and was a member of the VFW Post 1925 Ladies Auxiliary. Born Nov. 9, 1917, in Seymour, she was a daughter of Ernest Henry and Marietta Heitman Kriete, both of whom preceded her in death. Survivors include a stepson, Roger Engle, Seymour; a niece Rita Lowe, Seymour, with whom she lived with; one brother, Donald Kriete, Seymour; a sister, Emma Aikman, Seymour; eight step-grandchildren, Tammy Lowe, Kathy Crossman, Lori Engle, Jerry Engle, Stephen Nowling, Michael Nowling, Greg Nowling, and Becky Nowling; and also several stepgreat- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Engle; a stepson, Billy Arnold Engle; a step-daughter Norma Jean Nowling; and two brothers, Harold Kriete and Charles Kriete; and a stepgrandson, Edwin Engle. The Rev. Bruce Cochran will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Thursday at Voss Chapel. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until time of service Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Special Olympics and American Cancer Society or the donor's choice.
