Seymour Daily Tribune Raymond E. Estes Sr. October 13, 2006 Raymond E. Estes Sr., 80, of Crothersville died at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. Mr. Estes owned and operated Ray's Body Shop and worked in the auto body shop business for more than 50 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He enlisted on July 26, 1944, and was honorably discharged on May 29, 1946. Mr. Estes was a member of the Uniontown Baptist Church, a member of the Crothersville VFW Post 1083, a Mason at Washington Lodge 13 in Brownstown and a member of Scottish Rite in Indianapolis. Enjoyments in his life were to mow his lawn and most of all spending time with his family. Born July 19, 1926, in West Irving, Ky., he was the son of Obed and Della (Smith) Estes. On May 17, 1947, he married Viola Margaret (Robertson) in Irvine, Ky. She survives in Crothersville. Other survivors include two sons, Raymond (Wanda) Estes Jr., Seymour, and Robert Dale (Betty) Estes, Crothersville; one daughter, Brenda S. (Jeff) Johnson, Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Irene Barnes, Seymour. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Lewis and Dola Dozier. The Rev. Jerry Ousley will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Adams Funeral Home, Crothersville, with burial to follow at Crothersville Cemetery with the VFW Post 1083 Crothersville conducting military gravesite rites. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Adams Funeral Home, where there will be a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m., and after noon on Sunday at the funeral home.
