Seymour Tribune James Floyd Franklin 1923 - 2009 James Floyd Franklin, 85, Vallonia, passed away at 1:25 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour, after an illness of one year. Mr. Franklin was a member of Vallonia Christian Church and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Kieffer Paper Mill and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars of Brownstown. He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County. Born May 28, 1923, in Jackson County, he was the son of Lawrence and Edith Lowden Franklin, both of whom preceded him in death. On June 7, 1968, in Vallonia, he married Clara Ida Benge Franklin, who preceded him in death on Oct. 9, 1998. Survivors include children, Cheryl Ann Harris, Seymour, David Franklin, Columbus and Terry Franklin, Seymour; two stepchildren, Vasco England, Austin, and Robert England, Medora; half brother, Kenny Franklin; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Bode; one grandson; brother, Bob Franklin; half brothers, Denny, Raymond and Gary; and sister, Jean England. Pastor Don Neal and Rev. Chris Criminger will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia. Burial will take place at Vallonia Cemetery with military graveside rites. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday and from noon until time of service Monday at the funeral home.
