Sunday, September 04, 2005 Betty J. Gaiter March 24, 1931- Sept. 3, 2005 Betty Jean Gaiter, 74, Brownstown, died at 10:55 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at her home, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Gaiter was a member of Brownstown Christian Church, where she had been an officer of Esther Circle. She was a member of Jackson County Christian Women’s Club. She was very active in her church, and she read her Bible daily. She enjoyed spending time with her 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She loved to sew and to crochet. She had worked at Marion-Kay, Brownstown, where she met her husband. She retired from The Peoples Bank, Brownstown, after 33˝ years. Born March 24, 1931, at Zelma, she was a daughter of Clyde C. and Dorothy Julian Wray. On July 6, 1952, at Brownstown, she married Robert “Silo” Gaiter, who died Aug. 7, 1990. Survivors include five children, Becky (John) Hill, Bev Gaiter and Beth (Danny) Bell, all of Brownstown, Bob Gaiter, Tampa, Fla., and Barbie (Scott) Huber, Seymour; three brothers, Robert Wray, Terre Haute, and Ralph and Ted Wray, both of Bloomington; two sisters, Lenora Wray, St. Louis, and Connie (Scott) Lewis, Bedford; 10 grandchildren, Sandon Hill, David Hill, Johnni Hane, Amanda Bell, Tanner Bell, Matthew Bell, Maci Bell, Ben Huber, Maddie Huber and Sam Huber; and four great-grandchildren, Kirsten Hane, Sidney Hane, Anna Fugett and Jeanna Fugett. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Billy, Jerry and Russell Wray, and a grandchild, Taylor. The Rev. Gary Morning and the Rev. Michael Hogg will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Brownstown Christian Church, with burial at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home, Brownstown, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church. Memorials may by given to Brownstown Christian Church, Hoosier Christian Village Auxiliary or the American Cancer Society.
