Seymour Daily Tribune January 1, 2002 Mabel C. Millay Gardner Mabel C. Millay Gardner, 78, Crothersville, died at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2001, at Heritage House of Seymour. Mrs. Gardner was a member of Crothersville United Methodist Church, Crothersville Senior Citizens and Eastern Star. She was a homemaker. Born Sept. 24, 1923, in Indianapolis, she was a daughter of Roy Emmert Millay and Naomi Mae Denny Olson. On Dec. 20, 1941, she married the Rev. Leon E. Gardner, and he survives. Other survivors include three sons, Leon E. Gardner Jr. and Thomas Allen Gardner, both of Scottsburg, and Richard Lee Gardner, Seymour; a daughter, Sharon Ann Buckles, Seymour; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Norma Jean Bennett, Crawfordsville. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Lee Gardner, and two brothers, Embert Millay and Bobby Millay. The Rev. John Adams will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Crothersville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Crothersville Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Adams Funeral Home, Crothersville, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be given to United Way or Jennings/ Jackson/ Bartholomew Hospice.
