Seymour Tribune - August 26, 2009 Doris Garriott "Nanny" Doris "Nanny" Garriott, 98, Crothersville, passed away at 7:05 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at The Waters in Seymour. Mrs. Garriott was a 1928 Crothersville High School graduate, a member of Crothersville United Methodist Church, worked at the polling stations during the elections and was active in the Crothersville Centennial Celebration. She loved to sew, quilt and cook for her friends and family. Born Jan. 27, 1911, in Jennings County, she was the daughter of Marzellus and Julia Eacret Wilson. On Aug. 3, 1930, in Jeffersonville, she married Morse A. "Noah" Garriott who preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1982. Survivors include a daughter, Polly (Carl) McKain, Crothersville; two grandchildren, Scott (Tammy) McKain, Fishers, and Shelley McKain Erwin, Crothersville; one great-grandson, Benjamin (Amber) Amick, Indianapolis; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Corbin Byler and Faron Byler, Fishers; a nephew, Gordon Baxter, Thorntown; a niece, Lurlene (Bill) Wilhite, Columbus; and one sister, Katharine Gaither, Indianapolis. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Stella Kovener, Opal Baxter and Lois Hancock. Scott McKain will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at Adams Funeral Home, Crothersville. Burial will follow at Crothersville Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
