Seymour Daily Tribune Vivian Gentry November 11, 2006 Jan. 18, 1920 - Nov. 9, 2006 Vivian Gentry, 86, Marshall, Ill., died at 4:10 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006, at Burnside Community Health Center, Marshall. Mrs. Gentry was a member of First United Methodist Church of Marshall and the Mary Martha Circle of the church. She was a member of Clark County Home Extension, a member of TOPS and was a 1939 graduate of Marshall High School. She had formerly been both a Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout den leader. She loved to garden, sew and read and enjoyed making crafts. She had formerly delivered meals for the Meals on Wheels program of Marshall. Born Jan. 18, 1920, at Eldorado, Ill., she was the daughter of Raymon O. Etherton and Almeda Parks Etherton. On Sept. 26, 1941, at Marshall, Ill., she married Ralph Gentry, who died Feb. 16, 1990. Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon (Bill) Baker, Dayton, Ohio, Doris (Carol) Ellington, Marshall, and Diane (Joe) Macey, Mascoutah, Ill; two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith (Mary) Gentry, Calhoun, Ill., and Steve (Lisa) Gentry, Seymour; a sister, Vernice Tingley, Marshall, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Etherton, Carrollton, Texas; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. A brother, Virgil Etherton, preceded her in death. The Rev. James Tinzman and the Rev. David Deal will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Central Daylight Time Monday at Pearce Funeral Home, Marshall. Burial will be in Marshall Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 7 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church of Marshall.
