Seymour Daily Tribune - May 6, 2006 Mary Louise Glasson Jan. 12, 1909 – May 4, 2006 Mary Louise Glasson, 97, a lifelong resident of Jackson County, died at 2:44 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour. Mrs. Glasson was a member of First United Methodist Church, Seymour, since 1912, serving on the United Methodist Women’s Guild. She also was a member of Seymour Chapter 134, Order of the Eastern Star, and was a 1927 graduate of Shields High School. She attended Franklin College and graduated from Seymour Business College, which was owned by F.O. Whitmer. She did office work for 20 years for the Indiana Telephone Co., 10 years with J.V. Richart Insurance and eight years for Walter L. Surface Insurance, retiring in 1960. Mrs. Glasson was instrumental in starting the Mary Hatfield Glasson Scholarship Fund for high school students pursuing a college education. Born Jan. 12, 1909, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Charles and Cora McBride Hatfield, both of whom preceded her in death. On Oct. 28, 1949, in Seymour, she married Russell O. Glasson, who died in February 1987. Survivors include a cousin, Wilma Brisbin, Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Hatfield, who owned Hatfield’s Drug Store in Seymour, and a cousin, Leland Anderson, Shoals. The Rev. Steve Cherry will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Monday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel, Seymour. Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home. An Eastern Star service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Building Fund, American Heart Association or donor’s choice.
