Seymour Daily Tribune April 1, 2002 Walter Golden Sr. Walter Golden Sr., 78, North Vernon, died at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2002 at his residence after a long illness. Mr. Golden owned and operated a sawmill in Scipio for 40 years, and was self-employed in construction. His hobbies were reading the Bible, horseshoes and cards. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Born Sept. 5, 1923, in Knox County, Kentucky, he was a son of George and Viola V. Warren Golden, who both preceded him in death. On Nov. 7, 1952, in Pineville, Ky., he married Lucy Bays and she survives in North Vernon. He is also survived by three sons, Walter Golden Jr., Lima, Ohio, Terry Lynn Golden, Richmond, Mich., and Lonnie Wayne Golden, Scipio; two daughters, Kathy Jewell Carroll and Mary Ann Wells, both of North Vernon; a sister, Rayetta Lee, Norman; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by five sisters, Gwen Stanpher, Evelyn Robbins, Bueanna Golden, Mary George Golden and Loraine Golden; and three brothers, Thomas Golden, Paul Golden and Lane Golden. The Rev. Ronnie Bays will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Dove-Sharp and Rudicel Funeral Home, North Vernon. Burial will be at Cave Springs Cemetery, North Vernon. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
