Seymour Daily Tribune February 21, 2002 Doyle Gorbett Doyle “Kenneth” Gorbett, 83, Seymour, died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at Memorial Hospital, Seymour. Mr. Gorbett was a member of Freetown Church of Christ. He retired from Cummins after 26 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion in Brownstown. Born Aug. 2, 1918, in Jackson County, he was a son of Chester Gorbett and Leota Phegley Gorbett. On Sept. 1, 1951, in Indianapolis, he married Wilma Herkamp, who survives in Seymour. Other survivors include a son, Jefrey Gorbett, Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Melisa Gorbett and Christopher Gorbett, both of Indianapolis; and a brother, Harold Gorbett, Freetown. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Brother Bill Teegarden will conduct services at 1 p.m. Saturday at Voss & Sons Funeral Service, Voss Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be in Freetown Cemetery. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47 and Vietnam Veterans 7, all of Seymour. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from noon until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Freetown Church of Christ Building Fund.
