Seymour Daily Tribune Mildred B. Graves March 29, 1924- July 28, 2006 Mildred B. Graves, 82, of Seymour, died Friday, July 28, 2006, at Lutheran Community Home. Mrs. Graves graduated from Shields High School, attended Indiana University and Library School at the Indiana State Library. For 42 years she was the children's librarian at the Seymour Public Library. During this time she developed the pre-school story hour and other programs. Mrs. Graves was a former member of the Indiana Library Association, served on the Jackson County Welfare Board, Seymour Girls Club Board, Seymour Zoning Board, honorary member of Delta Kappa, and Jackson County Unit of the Womens Committee of the Indianapolis Symphony. Mrs. Graves was a gardener and grew herbs and presented programs on growing and using herbs. She also had an extensive wildflower collection. Born March 29, 1924, in Seymour, she was the daughter of Christian W. Beikman and Alma Schroer Beikman. On Jan. 4, 1948, she married Gerald R. Graves at St. Paul's Church. He died in June 2000. Survivors include her children, Christina (Steve) Letsinger, Grant (Susie) Graves, and Lizabeth Ault; four grandchildren, Nathan Letsinger (Amanda Davis), Jayson (Sarah) Sterling, Jonathan Graves and Christian Ault; and three great-grandchildren, Camryn, Kendrick and Kendall Sterling. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Bill Beikman; and two sisters, Betty Glidewell and Helen Beikman. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Voss Chapel and from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Seymour, Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Jimmy Rodriguez will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Children's Room at the Jackson County Public Library or the Immanuel Lutheran Church Children's Sunday School.
