Seymour Tribune - June 2, 2009 The Rev. George R. Greathouse 1938 - 2009 The Rev. George R. Greathouse, 70, of the Houston community, Norman, passed away at 5 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2009, at his residence. He was a member of Heltonville Methodist Church. The Rev. Greathouse was a pastor for 10 years at Heltonville Methodist Church and was former pastor of White's Chapel Church at Spraytown for 22 years. He also was retired from Cummins Engine Co. He was a member of a gospel quartet for several years and former president and vice president of Tri County Camp in Ogilville. He enjoyed his family and his many friends and the birds and wild animals around his home. He also enjoyed gardening and sharing with others. Born June 9, 1938, in Brown County, he was the son of Clifford and Nellie Shelton Greathouse, both of whom preceded him in death. On Aug. 3, 1963, in Brown County, he married Connie Hedger Greathouse, who survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Teresa Roland, Phenix City, Ala., and Jill Renee Greathouse, Seymour; one sister, Carolyn (J.P.) Hardesty, Columbus; two grandchildren, Travis Stockelman, Phenix City, Ala., and Sarah Roland, Phenix City, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Donald J. Greathouse; one sister, Jo Ann Hart; and one grandson, Daniel Greathouse. Pastor David Fisher will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Spurgeon Funeral Home Inc., Brownstown. Interment will be at Christiansburg Cemetery, Brown County. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
