Seymour Daily Tribune April 10, 2002 Delmar Wayne Griffin Delmar Wayne “Griffy” Griffin, 73, North Vernon, died at 9:33 p.m. Monday, April 8, 2002, at his residence. Mr. Griffin worked in the storeroom for the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center, retiring in 1989 after 20 years. Previous to that, he worked at Reliance Electric Co., Madison, for seven years. He was a member of North Vernon Masonic Lodge 59, Rolling Hills Shrine Club, Rolling Hills Smoky Patrol, Murat Temple, and Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis. He was also a member of Bethel Baptist Church, North Vernon, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Born Sept. 30, 1928, in Jefferson County, he was a son of Gerald “Cooney” Griffin and Waunita O. Jackson Griffin, who both preceded him in death. On March 15, 1946, in Jefferson County, he married Alice Caswell and she survives. He also is survived by two sons, Randy Griffin and Billy Griffin, both of North Vernon; two grandsons, Billy Griffin and Trevor Griffin, both of North Vernon; six granddaughters, Connie Toops, Angie Owens, Becky Seely, Marsha Griffin, Shelly Griffin and Susie Griffin, all of North Vernon; two brothers, Jan Griffin, North Vernon, and Don Griffin, Greenwood; and 12 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Jack Franks; a daughter, Rhonda Sue Franks; and a brother, Eldon Griffin. The Rev. Brian Trotter, chaplain for Hospice of Jennings County, will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday at Dove-Sharp and Rudicel Funeral Home, North Vernon. North Vernon Masonic Lodge 59 will conduct a Masonic memorial service at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Canaan. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Jennings County through the funeral home.
