Seymour Daily Tribune January 23, 2002 Merritt Minard Hague Merritt Minard Hague, 98, Bedford, died at 11:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, in Lawrence County. Mr. Hague was a teacher and principal in several counties in Indiana, including Lawrence County and Bedford, retiring after 49 years. He was a graduate of Salem High School and also graduated from Central Normal College in Danville with a bachelor of arts degree. He received a master’s degree in education from Indiana University, Bloomington. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the local and state historical societies and the Indiana State Teachers Association. Born March 15, 1903, in Washington County, he was a son of John C. and Kate Phillips Hague. On Nov. 22, 1924, in Washington County, he married Leola Reynolds, who died June 8, 1964. In 1966, he married Rennie Boring, who died in 1988. Survivors include a daughter, Maxine Zollman, Bedford; two sons, James Allen Hague, Rhode Island, and John M. Hague, Indianapolis; seven grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Marcile Divilbiss, Greenwood; two stepgranddaughters; and four stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Horace Hague and Russell Hague, and two sisters, Daisy Denney and Lou Bennett Hinton. The Rev. Curtis Hurley will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, Bedford. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Salem. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, Bedford.
