Seymour Tribune - November 2008 Glen E. Haley 1922 - 2008 Glen E. Haley, 86, Seymour, passed away at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville, Jefferson County, Ky., with his family by his side. Mr. Haley served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in World War II. He served his country with honor and dignity in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes Rhineland Central Europe, American Theater Ribbon, European Theater Ribbon with 5 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, Bronze Arrowhead Victory Medal of World War II. He was a member of Masonic Lodge F&AM 146, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Elks Lodge, Eagles Club, Scottish Rite and Shriner Club. He retired from the Seymour Fire Department, where he served as fire chief from 1964 to 1971. He then worked at Cummins Engine Co. for 10 years in the security department. Born April 26, 1922, in Brownstown, he was the son of Raymond Duff and Della Eglen Haley, both of whom preceded him in death. Survivors include three daughters, Glenda Burke, Cathy Thornton and Christine Haley; a son, Thomas E. Haley; grandchildren, Melissa (David) Rhew, DeDee (Michael) Taylor, Thomas Hartman, Michael Thornton, Melissa Thornton, Michael Burke and Stacy (Dan) Moran; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and his first wife, Clara Motsinger Haley Taylor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Salmon Haley, and siblings, Charlette, Della, Maude, Pete, Maurice, Joe, Patrick and Jack. Pastor Philip Bloch and Vicar Anthony Oliphant will conduct funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Voss Chapel, Seymour. Interment?will take place at Riverview Cemetery with a Voss Dove release. Full military graveside service will be conducted by the VFW, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans, Korean Veterans and Disabled American Veterans, all of Seymour. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, and from noon until time of service Saturday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday at Voss Chapel.
