Seymour Daily Tribune May 22, 2002 Carol L. Hamilton Carol L. Hamilton, 72, Seymour, died at 9:14 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at Memorial Hospital, Seymour. Mrs. Hamilton was a 1947 graduate of Seymour High School and attended Stephens College and Butler University. She was a county recorder 1971-1978, county clerk 1980-1988 and county auditor 1989-1992 before retiring. She was a member of the State Assembly Women’s Club, the Elks Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, the State Audities Association, the Women’s Democrat Club and Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She was an honorary lifetime member of the Girls Club, a Democrat vice-committeewoman and a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Seymour. Born Oct. 22, 1929, in Kendallville, she was a daughter of Robert James Brown and Clara Leone Watterson Brown, who both preceded her in death. On April 28, 1950, she married Robert F. Speckner and he died March 5, 1969. On Oct. 26, 1985, she then married Richard Hamilton and he survives in Seymour. She also is survived by two daughters, Cynthia (Roger) Schepman, Germantown, Tenn., and Bethany (Kent) Heavin, Greenwood; six grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded by a daughter, Aimee Lee Taylor; and a brother, Robert J. Brown Jr. The Rev. John Hall will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, Voss Chapel, Seymour, and from 9 a.m. until time of services Friday at the church. A rosary will be read at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Indiana Lupus Foundation or St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
