Seymour Tribune - May 23, 2006 The Rev. Sanford Hankins Dec. 8, 1930 – May 20, 2006 The Rev. Sanford Hankins, 75, Magnolia, Ark., died Saturday, May 20, 2006, at Magnolia City Hospital. The Rev. Hankins was a retired Methodist minister and was a member of the clergy for the United Methodist Church for the past 30 years. He served churches in Dierks, Malvern, Stephens, Camden, Hazen, Hot Springs, Marysville, Waldo, Willisville and the Magnolia Circuit, all in Arkansas. He was a member of Columbia County United Methodist Men. Born Dec. 8, 1930, in Brownstown, he was a son of Elijah and Hattie Mae Eglen Hankins, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Mary Ann Hankins, who also preceded him in death. Survivors include four sons, Dennis S. Hankins, Louisville, Tenn., Paul R. Hankins, Malvern, Ark., V. Wade Hankins, Conway, Ark., and Eric J. Hankins, Haskell, Ark.; two daughters, Rachel A. Hall, Sapulpa, Okla., and Mary Rose Hankins, Magnolia; a brother, Earl W. Hankins, and a sister, Joye I. Spurgeon, both of Seymour; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Haley. The Rev. David Prothro, assisted by the Rev. Dennis Hankins, will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Asbury United Methodist Church. Burial will take place at Marysville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jerry Booth, Bill Whitehead, Charlie Couch, Jerry Walker, Thomas Wooley and Rodney Chambers. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Lewis Funeral Home, Magnolia. Memorials may be given to Asbury United Methodist Church.
