Seymour Tribune Betty R. (Cockerham) Harbaugh 1938 - 2009 Betty R. Harbaugh, 70, Brownstown, passed away at 6:53 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Mrs. Harbaugh was an active member of Brownstown Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a homemaker and Jackson County jail matron and was employed with the Jackson County Treasurer's Office, Brownstown Christian Church Day Care and American Legion Headquarters in Indianapolis. She was a member of American Legion Post 112 Auxiliary and Women's Democrat Club of Jackson County and was a graduate of Brownstown High School Class of 1956. She enjoyed reading, cooking and attending all functions of her grandchildren. Born June 4, 1938, in Brownstown, she was the daughter of Kelsa and Goldie Allman Cockerham, both of whom preceded her in death. On June 30, 1957, in Brownstown Christian Church, she married Allen Bain Harbaugh, who preceded her in death Dec. 17, 2008. Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Lynn (John) Zimmer, Burlington, Ky., and Julie Ann (Steve) Roell, Mason, Ohio; a brother, Delbert (Deanna) Cockerham, Seymour; three sisters, Jean (Paul) Vornheder, Punta Gorda, Fla., Ann (Leonard) Turner, Columbus, and Delores (Joe) Goss, Freetown; and four grandchildren, Stefanie Ann Zimmer, Eric Allen Zimmer and Sarah Lynn Zimmer, all of Burlington, Ky., and Caitlin Elizabeth Roell, Mason, Ohio. Gary Morning and Doug Pogue will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brownstown Christian Church. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Brownstown, and from noon until time of service Saturday at the church.
