Seymour Daily Tribune January 15, 2007 Linda A. Adams Held April 21, 1943 - Jan. 12, 2007 Linda A. Adams Held, 63, Columbus, died at 9:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. Mrs. Held was a graduate of Indiana State Teachers College and received her master's degree at Indiana University. She was an elementary school teacher for Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. for 32 years, primarily teaching third grade at Mount Healthy and Lincoln Elementary. She was involved with the Ninth Street Park and Street Trees program and started the Kash-N-Kids program. She was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed crafts, bingo, collecting antiques and taking care of kids who were less fortunate. She was born April 21, 1943, in Austin. On June 20, 1980, in Columbus, she married Elbert J. Held, who survives. On Dec. 16, 2006, they renewed their wedding vows. Other survivors include a son, Jeffery (Sonya) Adams, Columbus; two stepdaughters, Karen (A.J.) Sorrels, Columbus, and Katie (Jeff) Schuman, Fairfax, Va.; six grandchildren, Serra and Samuel Adams, Nicholas and Zachary Sorrels and Benjamin and Miranda Schuman; four sisters, Carol Franklin, Jody (Paul) Shurman and Linda Lou Gilbert, all of Seymour, and Brenda Sue (Andrew) Howard, Brown County; three brothers, Michael (Patsy) Franklin, Dayton, Ohio, Phillip (Diana) Franklin, Columbus, and William McKim, Seymour; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her biological parents, Everett and Inez Richardson, and her adoptive parents, William Denton and Evelyn Galbraith McKim. The Rev. Barbara Grace will conduct funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home, Washington Street, Columbus. Burial will take place at Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from noon until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Linda A. Held Memorial Fund through the Lincoln Central Neighborhood Center or Hospice of South Central Indiana.
